Autonomous Vessels
Unmanned surface vessels will continue to play an increasing role in both national defense and commercial applications. Vigor has built 16 USVs in 5 different platforms. The Vigor-built Rafael Protector with its impressive capabilities against naval swarm threats resulted in two production runs for three different foreign customers.
Sea Hunter, the prototype for DARPA’s Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) program was designed, developed and constructed to provide an entirely new class of ocean-going vessel—one intended to traverse thousands of kilometers over the open seas for months at a time, all without a single crew member aboard. Watch DARPA's video of Sea Hunter's launch from Vigor's Portland facility where it was built and the subsequent speed test.
